We talked about the “Lenten Promise” last night. When I was in Catholic School we called our sacrifice during Lent -Lenten Promise. One of my Lenten Promises this season is to show up on Instagram Live every night during Lent. Several of you messaged me after our first IGL to share your Lenten Promises. Others of you had not thought about Lent and now thinking of ways to participate.
I was inspired today to talk about how we are loved by God no matter what. It was a revelation for me about 2 years ago when Joyce Meyer said we cannot make God love us any more than he already does. There’s nothing we can do for bonus points that makes us extra special. We already are.
Do you remember the song “This Little Light of Mine”? We probably sang it when we were in preschool or kindergarten (did we have preschool back then?!). I found this You Tube audio today. Listen to Odetta read Marianne Williamson’s poem ‘Our Deepest Fear’. Let your light shine. See you tomorrow. ML
Our Deepest Fear
By Marianne Williamson
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
