A Facebook friend asked me yesterday “How are you going to use the book “7 Mutiny Against Excess” for your Lenten group?
First, a friend and I chose 8 ladies whose personalities we know (hope) will mix well. Then we asked each of them to join the Lenten Gathering group. The books are available in Augusta at Barnes and Noble or easy to order on Amazon.
These girls are so eager to carry out the Lenten tradition of prayer, fasting and almsgiving so this book was hand in glove. But we are not asking all Catholic ladies.
Shock.Awe. no. This exercise is to clear the clutter, make more room for God to enter in, for us to actually hear what He is trying to tell us.
We are going to start with the Introduction then read Chapter One, Food. Each week we will discuss the chapter we’ve read, how/if it has had an impact and our reactions to our self-imposed fasts for the week.
Since most of us are accustomed to fasting during Lent, we will probably stretch just a bit during the “food” chapter since the fast is only for one week. I am eager to get started.
Follow along. Buy the book.
