I read an article recently that compared landscape plants to clothing. The question, “why would you put on a 20 year old outfit when you could wear something new and current?” was posed in the article. Â Honestly, Â I prefer the combination of old and new. Â When I see all the camellias, azaleas, magnolias and dogwoods in bloom, I appreciate their Southernness. Yet, I am also coming around to adding new “accessories” to the garden–tall, sleek containers, Â and funky, contorted horticulture. Â Maturity brings the realization that what goes around truly comes back around.
Fashion.
Furniture.
And yes,
FLOWERS!
There has been a revolution of gardening the past few years, perhaps for different reasons, but a “coming back” just the same. Dare to be a bit different, but hold on to your old suit.
see you.
