I just picked up the USA Weekend section of our newspaper because the cover caught my eye. The author, Molly Lyons, is encouraging us to garden with a purpose in mind. What does that mean? Â Whatever we put in the ground is significant–we will either eat it or use it for our pleasure as in a vase. Here are her options:
Cutting Garden
Veggies
Vertical gardening for those challenged with space
Lyons even encourages “native gardening” to contribute to the outdoor food chain.
I am too involved in life at this point to do anything other than “purposeful gardening”. Â Here are a couple of before and after pics of my philosophy.
Garden on Purpose!
see you

Do I interpret “native gardening” to help with the outdoor food chain as feeding the deer? Then I am doing a great job! Wish I could also have that purpose of planting for the enjoyment of cut flowers!

I know Kathy. I am always thinking of you and your predicament. Until you are ready to pick up a gun and scare the heck out of the deer, I believe you will have to live with it…Wondering, too, if you put some corn out and fed them in a particular spot if that would help…ML
