I am amazed at how simple life can be if that is what we make it. Our friends, Nick and Bethie, live about 10 minutes from our place in Burke County, GA. We drove over after dinner at the local buffet. Bethie invited us for dessert. Nick and Bethie have 6 children under 9 years of age and one more on the way! They live in a barn, literally the top portion of a barn!  There is a huge tractor parked downstairs, kitty cats lounging on the shed counter, and the herding dog jumping  with excitement.
The kids look forward to Robert’s visit because he always brings them something sweet! That evening it was cotton candy. Â Squealing with excitement, they opened the bags and distributed the sticky fluff. Â The adults enjoyed hot decaf and homemade chocolate cake. I cranked up my iPad, and you would have thought I pulled out a bucket of gold! The kids eagerly posed for pictures, and we all giggled as we looked at each picture.
Bethie and I discussed beekeeping and gardening while the guys went down to talk tractors. Bethie grows her own veggies, and has planted several blueberry bushes. They have cows- so fresh milk and yogurt are plentiful. Â Chickens and horses have been added to the property . The kids are all home schooled, can you imagine? They were talking about their Latin class given by their granddaddy.
We left with jars of fresh yogurt and milk, and a rekindled excitement for our upcoming days of  farm  life.  A simple life.
see you. ML
