A medley of merriment at the Morris Museum last night. Robert and I began the evening at the museum for cocktails and a quick run through of the art work. I downed a glass of champagne, then suddenly the lights flashed signaling the exit to board the trolley. I would have enjoyed lingering a bit longer to chat and view the artwork, but my search at home for a bottle of hairspray made us a bit tardy.
After gathering my furry coat, we hopped the colorfully lighted trolley to make a short trip to the brand new Convention Center a block away. A magical transformation of an ordinary convention room.  Generous draping,  trendy hi-top tables with funky glass copper-colored tops, dinner tables surrounded by Lucite chairs. My eyes were pleased with the candle light and of course, the customary flowers. Massive stone bowls atop pedestals filled with white tulips.Charleston Street’s signature hydrangeas, lilies and orchids were ubiquitous.
The food was delish. We strolled through the buffet, were served beef tenderloin by the carver, then left to serve ourselves the kale/grits combo and the stuffed tomatoes. Â After having the flu this fall (which I believe was caused by a buffet!), I asked Robert to serve my plate! Â Mass produced tomatoes are not my favorite, but the rice concoction inside the tomato was satisfying. I am disappointed that I did not see the seafood buffet before filling up. The oysters on the half shell, crab legs and humongous prawns looked divine! The assortment of tapas style desserts looked tempting, but I passed them up for a glass of Chardonnay.
What impressed me the most were the guests and the music. This was the biggest crowd attending that I have seen in years. What a great thing for the Museum. Â To see so many gussied up—men in tuxedos and the ladies in Oscar-esque gowns and sparkly cocktail dresses. The mood was elevated when the band cranked up the rock and roll. I started howling–these guys were great! Even dragged the hubster and the rest of the Hagler clan to the dance floor. Lots of enthusiastic zombie wanna be’s shimmying to the sounds of Michael Jackson’s Thriller sent the wall flowers to the floor! Flashback—I feel like Jennifer Garner! not.
What a treat to have so much fun, eat so well and help the Morris Museum of Art.
Blessings.
