Carmen Johnston, Southern Living Garden Lifestyle expert, spoke at the Augusta Council of Garden Clubs’ annual Spring Luncheon yesterday at the Augusta Country Club. Carmen shared a medley of ideas to snazz up for spring through fall.
As Carmen began her presentation, those in the audience immediately grabbed purses searching for pens and scrap paper. We were hungry for plant names and all ingredients to make the perfect porch planting and Easter table decoration. Carmen guaranteed we would all outshine all the other girls on the block!
I will share more of Carmen’s secrets in another post, but for now, spruce up that porch with the following plant combinations. Once these potted plants get too big for the porch, plant them in the garden!
The picture far left, top is of Pieris ‘Mountain Snow’, a beautiful part shade shrub with the loveliest, bridal bouquet worthy blooms! I snipped a Pieris bloom to put in my kitchen window, a lovely cut flower garden addition. The taller photo on right is Carmen’s container from yesterday’s demonstration. Â Carmen shared three rules for lush, “go big or go home” containers.
