I was getting a little antsy over the weekend worrying whether or not our cabinets and islands (yes, dos Islas) would ever be finished.
They are in the works!
This kitchen renovation may finally come to an end!
The only thing that would make me feel better was to go see for myself. I suppose it should have been some big surprise, but this gal couldn’t wait!
The second island or “buffet” is in photo above.
This will be a dressy, high gloss deep teal piece closest to the dining table. There will be mirrors on the door fronts of this piece. Â A sample of the teal below, but without the high gloss.
The deep teal looks black in the photo. We are using a heavy brass knob on the doors and drawers to the buffet. Top left color sample represents the perimeter cabinet color.
The winter gold knobs and pulls are really nice with the Benjamin Moore “Cloud Cover”on the cabinets.
The black knob and pull are for the rough wood island which will be the working island near the kitchen sink.
Lastly, there is a separate cabinet piece which will be painted Benjamin Moore  “Revere Pewter”.
This section of cabinet has Robert’s mini bar and wine rack. Again staying with a brushed brass gold but tossing a little sleek- modern in the hardware.
The wine rack will sit above the hall doorway. It is good Robert tends bar otherwise I would need a ladder!
These are the white doors for the perimeter cabinets! Just waiting for them to dry. They will be attached to cabinets tomorrow!
The guys are getting everything ready to put together and load up!
This piece(below) is a sample drawer front to the main island.
My hope was to have an island that is not a big piece of stone. Ellen, our architect, caught on and designed a working island made out of rough wood.
Rough meaning not finished as below.
Difficult for the guys to understand, but they finally settled in to the idea that perfectly imperfect is the look we are going for!
Well this little field trip satisfied me for a few days. Nick will be over tomorrow to trim out the new hood and the HVAC guys will put in a couple more vents for heat and air.
I will head out to Graniteville to visit the stone pieces I selected this summer. Taking the backsplash sample with me for our reunion.
That is it up there all shimmery! Can’t wait to see the mix of grey, browns,  gold and soft white.
Will report on the marble and soapstone.
Have a happy day and thanks for helping me through this birth of a new kitchen!
