- We’ve all done it at least once.  Rush those Christmas cards out 2 days before  Thanksgiving,  make yours first, the most creative, best dressed kids, collage, best photography, etc.  Last year was the year of the collage, a collection of memories.  You still get the faithful and much anticipated Christmas letter. Some eye rolling, but over time I’ve come to enjoy them, and since I never see those families, it’s a good way to catch up.
Several years ago, a friend suggested I suspend the card collection across a window. I strung some Smilax across my kitchen window, punched holes in the cards, then tied the cards to the Smilax with narrow ribbon. Cards in the kitchen made for more than “Good morning Mari-nanny”….”Ugh” conversations. This year, I’ve draped white pine across a mirror over the fireplace. Here, I’ll display this year’s cards and cards from years past. Yes, I am a collector. I love to compare cards over the years and the changes in parents and children!
My friend Anna has a near-Christmas birthday and celebrated a BIG one a couple of years ago. She asked friends to write a special memory for her birthday scrapbook. She displayed the handwritten cards over her fireplace on white pine. Steal this idea, it’s great.
How do you display your Christmas cards? Â Or do you ? Post your ideas below, and share this with your friends!
see you

Somewhere in January (or February or March or August) I cut out all the photos from the cards and arrange them on a bulletin board to make a collage. Its usually a trick to get them to all fit, and I whittle down and cut them into different sizes, and it makes a fun mosh of photos. The bulletin board hangs in a prominent place in the kitchen (over the dog’s bowl), so I glance at it often. Makes me smile to see people from so many stages of our lives. When I do that, I try to remember to pray for whoever I glanced at that time. At the end of the year, when I clear the bulletin board to start over, I put the old photos in a ziploc bag w/ the date and throw into the basement – my kids will have a good time finding all of these in 50 years when I’m dead!

That is a fabulous idea! And you use the pics the WHOLE year, not just the week before Christmas like me! Thank you so much for sharing that idea. ML
