Last week we “warned” Mimi that we would pick her up for 6pm Mass, then drive her to our house for Sunday supper. She agreed. Â Marianna called Mimi at 5pm to let her know she would pick her up for Mass in just a bit. Â Mimi replied, “I am not going out in that mess.”. Â What mess? Marianna begged a little, but Mimi was not going out. After Mass, we discussed my mother’s cantakerous nature and concluded that we should have supper at Mimi’s house next Sunday.Â
Mimi was delighted at the suggestion. She prepared her dining room table all week. Our Sunday supper celebrating Sam’s sixteenth was the absolute highlight of Mimi’s week! She found the good silver, great grandmother’s china and the delicate pink depression water goblets. All for Sam.
I prepared his favorite–Shepherd’s pie, and we had salad and chocolate cupcakes for dessert.
Our Sunday celebration was a double sparkle–Sam and Mimi.
see you.
