I drove over to North Augusta SC yesterday to share flowers with the ladies of Terrace Garden Club. My little rice rocket was packed with flowers, pumpkins and grasses(they were from my neighbors yard). We created Thanksgiving centerpieces after carving fresh pumpkins for containers. I admit I was slightly concerned when I heard some talking about arthritis. I figured it would be a long evening of stabbing those creamy pumps and scooping out the seeds. Not so!
We scooped seeds, nestled Oasis, and discovered the beauty of ornamental cabbage, crepe myrtle and whimsical wisps of dormant grasses! Intimidated when a local veteran florist introduced herself, we ended the evening sharing floral anecdotes and  faux pas.
The girls did great and everyone left talking about where they would place the arrangement at home. They also commented on how “different” this meeting was because they actually did something hands on and had enough time to make a design for an ailing club member.
