Pumpkins are in the stores and stacked up at road-side stands ready for you to kick off your fall decorating. Start with the places you see the most. Is it your front porch or your back porch? Get yourself in the mood by picking up a couple of pumpkins. My neighbor has already beat me to it! Add details such as corn stalks, mums–and there you have it FALL. Now, as October sets in, carve a couple of pumps and add a few theme accessories–HALLOWEEN! Â Always keep a few good looking pumps and your corn stalks for Thanksgiving. I’ve come to appreciate pumpkins more for Thanksgiving than for Halloween. A few ideas to help you transition through each occasion…ML
Halloween to Harvest  Decorating List:
1.  Corn stalks to tie at your front gate or  your front porch

The setting above says fall, harvest, welcome- not necessarily Halloween or Thanksgiving!
You can use mums, but think about the rich colors of kale, mustard greens, and Swiss chard! I will be using more wide burlap ribbon this year to tie those corn stalks to the banisters.
2. Â The “they all look just alike” Jack o’ Lanterns are for carving then turning around for a week or so after Halloween, then tossing!

3. Add spooky to your porch with a theme: ‘The Birds’, spiders, a grave yard, or NOT (if you have little people!)

'The Birds'
A mix of carved and uncarved will hold you over through Thanksgiving. The carving encourages bacteria and moisture which causes your pumps to rot!
