“Trying to get out of here” is probably something most people are saying today about leaving their homes for Masters Week. I am no exception. Not renting the house this year takes a load off, but I just realized that this year’s pressure is greater than any year. This year I have my mother and Gizmo to worry about and arrange their care! Mama used to take good care of Gizmo at her house while we vacated for Masters Week. Now, my mother lives with us, and everything seems just a bit more complicated. Her caregiver, her schedule, her medicine, all the reminding. And while Gizmo is just a dog, he is my dog–so much like a child.
I am almost envious of those “just renting” . Your house is in top order, empty and you will return to the same. Me? Who knows? I am relieved we are not too far away just in case I have to return. Thankful, though, that my brother and his son are coming for a visit during the week.
So as you roll that vacuum one last time, slip out  the back door and enjoy your week. The grass really is greener on the renting side.
See you at the beach.

Still love this photo of you and your mom that I shot at your big birthday several years ago. Enjoy your time away during Masters week. I no longer rent, but sometimes wish I did to force me to deep clean the closets!
