Even though the leaves are falling and the days are shorter, there is still plenty to do this month to prepare for early spring! You’ll want colorful flowers come February, right?
Well, if you are planning on planting bulbs, get busy. The weatherman is teetering real close to saying it may freeze well before November this year in the South. Â Bulbs need a bit of day time warmth and night time coolness to settle into the ground for an outstanding performance next spring/summer!
Here is the list for October/November to keep you outside.
- Fall & Spring bulb planting..narcisus, amaryllis (force indoors!), daffodils, tulips, lilies, Allium(below),snowdrops(below)
- Sow seeds of larkspur, bachelor buttons, poppy now for Spring bloom
- Plant nasturtium seeds now, they’ll germinate and possibly bloom for you before our first frost
- Cilantro, lovage, dill and   are herbs you’ll use over and over, plant from seed or find some transplants.
- Keep planting lettuce seed through October for sweet baby greens.
