Here we are in the Holiday Inn Riverside in Charleston after a stormy ride, some wine and a not so great meal. We have to make our selves sleep so that we can be ready and out the door by 4:45am for 5am check in.
YUCK.
The doctor will be doing a cardiac ablation on Big Daddy tomorrow. After being sedated, the doctor will take a catheter and go up to the heart from the groin area and very specifically zap the areas of the upper chambers of the heart (atria) that are out of control electrically. This frenzy causes BD to have rapid and very irregular heartbeats, making him feel as if he is going to faint. If her were not taking blood thinners, could potentially cause a stroke.
We’ve been to the ER many times in the past few years and BD has it down where he asks to be cardioverted which means the docs take paddles and shock the heart back into normal rhythm. Sedated, of course.
Lucky for me, I had a good driver- Erin- to drive us here. Friends are texting asking about BD and calling to wish him well. So I am checking out for the night, but ask for a little prayer to make sure we have smooth sailing or zapping tomorrow. We do not anticipate anything but an easy go of it, but prayer never hurt anyone! We can definitely sense the power of prayer.
BD actually looks forward to the attention and healing hands.
Nite.
