Your kids are home from school. Ask someone to carve that pumpkin still around from Halloween, scoop out the seeds.
Place a zippy bag inside, then fill with a block of Oasis foam or wet floral foam.
Yes, purple nails!
Slice that floral foam to about an inch above the top of the pumpkin. Tuck the zippy bag into the pumpkin or if too tight, snip with scissors.
Next, start adding some magnolia. Be sure to highlight the underside which has a lovely copper layer.
Begin adding roses or lilies or the “star” flowers–those that will stand out.
We used ‘Free Spirit’ roses which have a festive orange, yellow and deep pink glow. Â Use your star flowers in odd numbers…3, 5, 7…
Next add something really zingy.  Found these cool peppers for this arrangement. Adding a bit of zing will catch the eyes of your guests and really add that WOW factor.  Walk outside or do a bit of  “selective pruning” from your neighbor and add some fiery crepe myrtle stems, pepperberry leaves and berries, even some eucalyptus. You could even get away with making this little stuffed pumpkin completely out of backyard foliage without adding a single flower!
And there you have it.
Remember setting the tables and placing Mother Nature’s bounty throughout the house makes it festive- a special occasion. Your children and your grandchildren will thank you for it.
Running out of time?
Tomorrow some easy inspiration.
