I worked in the garden most of the day yesterday. Â Watered, weeded, and tidied up a bit. These photos taken with iPad.
The Compost pile is doing its very best to show up the new Back 40 nearby behind the shed. Squash, cukes, potatoes and pumpkin seeds from 2 years ago all beginning to sprawl over the decomposing leaves, eggshells and coffee grounds!
I love eggplant, so I planted several Japanese eggplant , Black Beauty eggplant and an unusual white eggplant. The blooms are gorgeous.
The  girls have a big chunk of fresh mozzarella waiting for the first ripe tomato. Sweet basil has been ready for some time to top the tomato and mozzarella on our first of summer bruschetta!
Lastly, the backwards “L” shaped Back 40. We took out a couple of trees last year which unleashed the row crop gardener in me! Â We have 13 tomato plants in TB40 along with basil, okra, green bush beans, eggplant, bell peppers, summer squash, cucumbers, and butternut squash.
I am gathering recipes to experiment and share as the crop rolls in!
