I want to thank you for your caring thoughts , prayers, visits, and inspiration as we have journeyed along a new path with mama. She has been living with my little unit for about two months, and we have all adjusted smoothly. Â I don’t yell nearly as much with my mother in the house! Physically, mama is in great shape. She walks and carries out her activities of daily living with minimal or no assistance.
Mama’s memory is the only noticeable change since she was out of commission this summer. However,  reflecting on the past six months or so, mama’s memory has been declining slowly.. She really just started aging in the past year. That is not bad at all! She knows her head is just a bit “fruity”, but we don’t dwell on it.
Mama has a sweet lady who comes here a couple of days a week to drive her to the beauty shop, grocery store and very rarely, mama’s house. She says it is depressing to be there. Â We have not officially brought up the subject of going home, but I am sensing mama would like to stay here- at least until we reach a different level of care.
Thursday, mama will be 87. Yes, she will kill me if she finds out I made that information “public”! I would like to invite anyone who knows her to drop by between 10 am and 11:30am this Thursday, August 30th for a birthday visit. I have not told her about this yet, but she probably would not remember if I did! This is not a fancy Mimosa party, but a drop in, have a bite and catch up with or meet my mother. Â Message me here or on Facebook if you need directions to my house, and if you are coming.
So, for now, we rock along. I hope to see you this week on Mama’s birthday!
See you.

Happy Birthday to Emily. I don’t know if she will remember that we lived next door to Angel and Stewart for over forty years.
It has been several years since I have seen Emily and we had a nice chat.
Blessings to your family as you care for her.
